Born and educated in the former Soviet Union, Serikov received both musical and naval education. He graduated from a maritime academy with an officer’s rank.
This background brought together musical discipline, structural thinking and the experience of a life shaped by history, responsibility and change.

After the collapse of the USSR, his life and creative path eventually led him to New Zealand, where he immigrated in 2000.

His catalogue includes orchestral and chamber works, piano and organ compositions, theatre music, standalone dramatic works, electronic music, and Requiem Waltz, a work for symphony orchestra and choir.
